Atelier des Lumières: da Dalí a Gaudí fino al 2 gennaio a Parigi

Un viaggio attraverso dipinti animati di due maestri dell’arte che rimarranno per sempre nella storia europea: Dalí e Gaudí. Lo sviluppo audiovisivo e l’invasione della tecnologia nell’arte hanno reso possibile sradicare le rappresentazioni ed i concetti più surreali di questi due artisti, come la giraffa che brucia, la Sagrada Famiglia, la galatea delle sfere, i cigni che riflettono gli elefanti, i paesaggi della memoria, il modernismo di Parc Güell, per animarli.

Questa mostra nello spazio progressista e innovatore dell’Atelier des Lumières a Parigi, crea una nuova dimensione in cui, nelle rispettive mostre, i personaggi creati da entrambi gli artisti si incontrano attraversando i decenni. Ecco due mostre da non perdere: fino al 2 gennaio 2022, all’Atelier des Lumières di Parigi, “Dalí, l’enigma senza fine”, e “Gaudí: architetto dell’immaginario”.

In questa mostra audiovisiva e spaziotemporale, il cortometraggio che anima i personaggi creati da Dalí è seguito da quello di Gaudí. Non dimentichiamoci che quest’ultimo fu una grande fonte di ispirazione per Dalí: inizialmente, le opere di Gaudí erano considerate come provocatorie, troppo fantasiose per la scena artistica dell’inizio del ventesimo secolo. Invece, il genio di Dalí si schiera sin dall’inizio dalla parte del collega artista, difendendolo e supportandolo nello sviluppo di una concezione artistica che poi diventò uno sguardo nuovo verso l’Art Nouveau nel 1933.

L’installazione Dalí, l’enigma senza fine mette in mostra pezzi creati da Dalí in sessanta anni, diversi stili, materiali e ispirazioni. I muri dell’atelier si estendono per decine di metri in lunghezza e per dieci metri in altezza: questo offre lo spazio a una varietà di personaggi che stendono i propri muscoli, muovono la testa, e dominano il pubblico con il loro universo surreale. In tale modo, non solo si ricorda il patrimonio artistico lasciato da Dalí, ma attraverso fotografie in bianco e nero e varie altre fonti di ricordi, si crea un incontro più intimo con l’artista, svelandone i lati più oscuri. Dall’impressionismo al cubismo, ai temi religiosi e al surrealismo, fino al teatro e al cinema, il tutto con le sonorità dei Pink Floyd come musica di sottofondo.

Il direttore artistico, Gianfranco Iannuzzi, offre uno sguardo nuovo al pubblico, attraverso la struttura della mostra: la fantasia e l’immaginario, il riconcettualizzare l’interpretazione binaria di tutti i giorni, allontanandoci da quest’ultima. In più, la musica di sottofondo che accompagna le proiezioni crea un ponte tra arte surreale e il classico rock dei Pink Floyd degli anni sessanta, un accoppiamento di grande successo e un ponte tra epoche diverse. Tutto ciò, con l’obbiettivo di offrire una nuova interpretazione.

Non voglio fare spoiler, dunque della mostra audiovisiva Gaudí: architetto dell’immaginazione, che è un’ode al patrimonio culturale e artistico lasciato dall’artista, ora parte del patrimonio mondiale UNESCO, vi dirò poco, per mantenere l’effetto sorpresa. Con giochi di luce e colore, come rivela il nome stesso dello spazio, passando per Parc Güell, Casa Barlló fino alla Sagrada Família, la mostra è un viaggio attraverso le famose facciate colorate e ondulate, i mosaici, che muovono e trasportano lo sguardo in una realtà immaginaria.

Entrambe le opere in movimento di Dalí e Gaudí, artisti che mi piacerebbe considerare come rewriters per descrivere l’immaginario, creano e materializzano l’astratto, senza fermarsi ai limiti del concepibile, ma mettendo sempre in discussione e aggiornando tutte le definizioni prestabilite.

Atelier des Lumières: a space-time journey from Dalí to Gaudí until January 2nd in Paris

A journey through animated paintings by two Masters of Art who will remain forever in European history: Dalí and Gaudí. Audio-visual development and the invasion of technology in the art field made it possible to eradicate the most surreal characters and concepts of these two artists, such as the burning giraffe, the Sagrada Famiglia, the galatea of the spheres, the swans reflecting the elephants, the landscapes of memory, the modernism of Parc Güell, and to animate them. This exhibition is in the progressive and innovative space of the Atelier des Lumières in Paris, and it creates a new dimension in which, in their respective exhibitions, the characters created by both artists over the decades meet. Here are two exhibitions not to be missed: to 2d of January 2022, at the Atelier des Lumières in Paris, “Dalí, the endless enigma“, and “Gaudí: architect of the imaginary”.

In this audio-visual exhibition that goes beyond time and space, the short film that animates the characters created by Dalí is followed by that of Gaudí. We should not forget that the latter was a great inspiration for Dalí: initially, Gaudí’ s works were considered provocative, too imaginative for the art scene of the early twentieth century. Instead, Dalí’s genius took sides from the beginning on the side of his fellow artist, defending him and supporting him in the development of an artistic conception which then became a new look to the Art Nouveau in 1933.

The installation Dalí, the endless enigma showcases pieces created by Dalí over sixty years, different styles, materials and inspirations. The walls of the atelier extend for tens of meters in length and ten meters in height: this leaves room for a variety of characters to stretch their muscles, move their heads, and master the audience in their surreal universe. In this way, not only is the artistic heritage left by Dalí remembered, but through black and white photographs and various other sources of memories, a more intimate encounter with the artist takes place, revealing his varied sides. This, from impressionism to cubism, to religious themes and surrealism, to theatre and cinema, all with the Pink Floyd as background music.

The artistic director, Gianfranco Iannuzzi, gives a pair of new eyes to the public, through the structure of the exhibition: the imagination and the imaginary, reconceptualizing the binary interpretation of every day, moving away from the latter. Further, the background music that accompanies the projections creates a bridge between surreal art and the classic Pink Floyd rock of the sixties, a very successful pairing, and a bridge between different eras. All this, to offer a new interpretation.

Finally, I will reveal little of the audio-visual exhibition “Gaudí: architect of the imagination” which is an ode to the cultural and artistic heritage left by the artist, now part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site, to maintain the surprise effect. With plays of light and colour, as the name of the space itself reveals, passing through Parc Güell, Casa Barlló up to the Sagrada Família, this is a journey through the famous coloured and wavy facades, the mosaics, which move and transport the look into an imaginary reality.

Both the movable works of Dalí and Gaudí, artists that I would like to consider as rewriters to describe the imaginary, create and materialize the abstract, not stopping at the limits of the conceivable, but always questioning and updating all pre-established definitions.
