Bring Into Being: una connessione tra passato e presente, con artisti vari. L’anniversario di questa pandemia è ormai già passato, superando un anno di confinamento, di libertà controllata e d’introspezione costante. Gli effetti di questa pandemia non si riflettono solamente al livello individuale, ma anche a livello cosmopolita: non avendo più l’occasione di confrontarci con il diverso, diventa facile rinchiudersi nel proprio mondo. In effetti, negli ultimi mesi la diversità che costituisce la bellezza del nostro continente europeo, e, oltre i nostri oceani, quella del mondo intero, è stata sospesa. In termini artistici, il confronto con culture diverse offerto da una passeggiata per una mostra o un’avventura per una galleria sconosciuta non sono più una possibilità. A parte le gallerie multimediali e le mostre online che si tengono strette le comunità di amanti dell’arte in giro per tutto il mondo, l’unica speranza rimane quella di un futuro vicino. Così, Bring Into Being, un programma che comprende vari artisti, trai quali anche il musicista Peter Adjaye, il sound artist anglo ghanése Jaimini Patel e il vincitore del Turner Prize, Mark Wallinger.

Dal 17 maggio al 31 ottobre

La villa palladiana di Londra aprirà al pubblico dal 17 maggio al 31 ottobre 2021 per accogliere la mostra Bring Into Being. Offrendo supporto e uno spazio per esprimersi ad artisti di tutto il mondo, Chiswick House soddisfa amanti delle arti aprendo una location nuova e spettacolare in Europa. In perfetta sintonia con i temi e le problematiche contemporanee concernenti il cambiamento climatico, che sollecita una reazione mondiale immediata, gli artisti usano materiali organici per le loro opere. La coordinatrice dei progetti artistici è Mariam Zulfiqar.

Chiswick House è un luogo unico per ospitare il ritorno a una relazione fisica tra pubblico e arte. In tempi di Covid nei quali la distanza sociale rimane fondamentale quanto il desiderio di partecipare a Bring Into Being, i giardini di Chiswick House, famosi per il loro valore storico, pianificati nel 1813 dall’architetto Samuel Ware, rilevano il loro significato pratico e metaforico. Pratico, per le regole di questa pandemia, e metaforico per la sua connessione tra passato e presente, riflettendo il momento di fluttuazione, di transizione e di cambiamento che viviamo ogni giorno. Tale sensazione è anche riflessa dal luogo in sé, nel quale, come ha dichiarato Mariam Zulfiqar

“stiamo sperimentando diverse forme di attività per vedere che tipo di futuro potrebbe avere questo luogo; le idee di artisti, musicisti, scienziati e altri professionisti creativi sono fondamentali per generare nuove forme di connessione tra le persone e questo sito”.

I tre artisti raccontano come il concetto delle loro opere miri ad essere un attrezzo per esplorare le sfide presenti e future, rispetto alla pandemia e allo stato futuro del nostro pianeta. Con un labirinto di opere e installazioni artistiche distribuite tra i giardini di Chismick House, l’esibizione sarà accompagnata da un panorama sonoro intitolato We Bear the Light of the Earth In Red, Green, Brown and Black (2021) coordinato da Peter Adjaye. Per scoprire le installazioni visuali e sonore di Mark Wallinger, British Summer Time, e Jaimini Patel, vi invito ad attendere l’evento.

Concepito come una prova per esperimentare il potenziale dello spazio, Bring Into Being è anche un viaggio tra una realtà passata, presente e futura, in cui il ruolo della natura e della creatività per la sopravvivenza fisica e spirituale del nostro pianeta è pienamente riconosciuto. Perciò, il programma estivo di Chiswick House continuerà parallelamente nei prossimi mesi, con workshop, visite guidate dall’artista tessile Yiran Duan,dall’ architetto e maestro di yoga Lauren Dutton (anche collaboratore di Bjork Ansuman Biswas), dal fisico Chamkaur Ghag e dal fotografo Jasprit Singh tra altri artisti.

Per tutti gli eventi, i biglietti sono stati messi in vendita il 20 aprile: così, il sogno è già cominciato. Fluttuando per la villa neopalladiana nella zona sud della capitale inglese, le installazioni visuali e sonore originate dall’essere immaginativo di grandi artisti accoglieranno un pubblico assetato di stimoli creativi. Il contatto con la diversità e con vari modi di affrontare le imprese più difficili dei nostri tempi, rimane essenziale per aumentare la consapevolezza dello stato del nostro pianeta per tutto il continente europeo. Infatti, l’arte è diventata un’arma di avocazione riguardante i nostri cataclismi contemporanei che richiedono unità e collaborazione da tutto il mondo. Così, questo evento nel cuore di Londra, capitale non più parte dell’Unione Europea che molti europei sentono lontana, dimostra il bisogno di tralasciare rancori, e di costruire insieme un futuro comune.

Chiswick House: transformation from a historical villa into a centre for contemporary art

Bring Into Being: a connection between past and present with several artists. This pandemic’s birthday has already gone by, exceeding a year of confinement, of controlled freedom and of constant introspection. The effects of this pandemic are not only reflected on the individual level, but also on the cosmopolitan one: not having the occasion to confront ourselves with diversity it becomes easy to close up in our own bubble, our own world. Indeed, in the past months the diversity that constitutes the beauty of our European continent and, beyond our oceans, that of the entire world, has been put on hold. In artistic terms, the confrontation with different cultures previously available in a stroll through an exhibition or an adventure through an unknown gallery are no longer options. Apart from multimedia galleries and online exhibitions which have been holding together art lovers’ communities worldwide, the only hope remains that of the near future. Thus, Bring Into Being, is a program encompassing various artists, of which the musician Peter Adjaye, the Anglo-Ghanaian sound artist Jaimini Patel and the winner of the Turner Prize, Mark Wallinger.

From the 17th of May to the 31st of October

London’s Palladian villa will be open to the public from the 17th of May to the 31st of October 2021, welcoming the show Bring Into Being. Providing support and space for artists’ expression from the whole world, Chiswick House satisfies art lovers, opening a new spectacular location in Europe. Binded to contemporary themes and problematics regarding climate change which urges an immediate worldwide reaction, the artists use organic materials for their work. The coordinator of such artistic projects is Mariam Zulfiqar.

Chiswick House is a unique place to host the return of a physical relationship between art and its public. In times of Covid, where social distance remains as central as the desire to participate to Bring Into Being, the Chiswick House Gardens, famous for their historical value as they were planned in 1813 by the architect Samuel Ware, have a practical and metaphorical meaning. Practical, as they follow the rules of this pandemic (social distancing), and metaphorical for their connection between past and present, mirroring the moment of fluctuation, of transition and change that we live every day. Such sensation is also reflected from the location itself, where, as declared by Mariam Zulfiqar

“we are experimenting diverse forms of activities in order to see which type of future this type of space could have:  the ideas of artists, musicians, scientists, and other creative professionals have become fundamental to generate new types of connections between people on this site”.

The three artists recount how the concept of their work aims to be a tool of exploration concerning present and future challenges, in relation to the pandemic and to the future state of our planet. Creating a labyrinth of artistic works and installations throughout Chismick Gardens, such exhibition will be accompanied by a sound landscape entitled We Bear the Light of the Earth In Red, Green, Brown and Black (2021), coordinated by Peter Adjaye. Conceived as an experiment to foresee the potential of such a space, Bring Into Being is also a journey between past, present and future realities, where the fundamental role of nature and creativity for the physical and spiritual survival of our planet have been acknowledged. Thus, Chiswick House’s summer program will continue in parallelly to Bring Into Being in the next few months with workshops, guided visits by the textile artist Yiran Duan, the architect and yoga teacher Lauren Dutton (also collaborator of Bjork Anduman Biswas), the physician Chamkaur Ghag and the photographer Jasprit Singh amongst other artists.

For all events, the tickets have been put on sale on the 20th of April: in such a way, the dream has already begun. Fluctuating through the neo-Palladian villa in the southern zone of the English capital, such visual and sound installations originated from the imagination of great artists will welcome a public thirsty for creative stimulus. The contact with diversity and with different ways to face the most difficult challenges of our era remain fundamental to increase awareness regarding the state of our planet across the whole continent. Indeed, art has become a weapon of advocation regarding our contemporary cataclysms which demand unity and collaboration from the whole world. Thus, this event in the earth of London, a capital not anymore part of the European Union, therefore felt as distant by several European states, outlines the need to leave grudges behind in order to build a common future together.
