Festival Finder Europe: find your festival across Europe

Search and find your festival with one click! From the music of all genres to honest and ambitious theatrical plays, to musical and literary performances, Festival Finder satisfies curiosity and imagination throughout European travel.  Welcoming a public of all ages, this multimedia experience returns art and festival lovers in contact with hidden realities that must not be forgotten. This innovative platform invites a cosmopolitan public to hear the story recounted by street dances, songs, paintings and several other installations which have not been open to the public due to the pandemic. Recounting stories of everyday life on their website, the public can bind themselves to the community for whom this project was created: a community of charming diversity, sharing the same ground, that of our European continent.

An EU sponsored project

Indeed, such a project is sponsored by the European Union, collecting faces and traditions from all of its member states. Further, the project FestivalFinder.EU Alive Now brings together 2300 artistic festivals from all of Europe’s corners, becoming “live” on this platform, and available to a European and universal public. Such a project will last until 2022, whither artists from all over Europe can express themselves and display their artistic project in order not to look a second of creativity and altruism in times of worldwide lockdowns.

Festival directors from all over Europe are welcome, exhibiting an incredible and unique diversity that in these times of stasis allow for a moment of introspection and observation. This, by acknowledging the unique character of Europe’s cultural heritage, which is not forgotten but rather, conversely, becomes stronger thanks to these platforms. In such a way, looking through the category “Find a festival”, with the click of a finger one can travel from Vilnius to the Musical Biennale of Zagreb, all the way to Cyprus’ cinema festival alongside several other locations. Further, Festival Finder allows a selection of dates, locations and specific types of performances and festivals, opening the door to a world where there is something for everybody; all there is to do is to discover it, adapting to a technological society.

Effe Label: a brand of quality

Additionally, the several project candidates who submit their project to Festival Finder can send an application to get the EFFE Label, which is a label granted to exceptional artistic festivals: more than 800 festivals in Europe, also part of Festival Finder, received the EFFE Label in the past years, now valid until 2021 due to the pandemic. Not only such a platform allows the artist and the public of any interest to browse through a new universe; it also rewards the applicants and artists behind working behind the scenes by granting them an EFFE label. The stimulation that emanates from such a platform is unique and offers a primordial motivation to get in touch with a diversity that, in the last year, has disappeared. As we cannot travel, explore and encounter anymore, engaging with the new technological innovations has become essential in re-imagining the realities of one’s continent, which will become fruitful in a near future.

For further immersion in Europe’s cultural heritage, the section “News” reveals, through stories and interviews,  contemporary political and cultural changes, alongside artistic interests of our new era. Ranging from International Women’s Day to the series Sofie & Carlo, which recounts the story of two festival organizers, daily realities almost seem present. Indeed, whilst romanticizing common truths, the series Sofie & Carlo leaves a smile on the readers’ faces, recounting real problems regarding the amount of work that is behind organizing festivals. This, from managements to moments of panic up to the ultimate detail, allowing the interested ones to dream about the role they may undertake in such industry in a hopefully great future. Looking up, or closing one’s eyes, a touch of imagination leaves the reader and the explorer of such platform alone to remember the real, with a new innovative look confronted with diverse events and characters in a way not to lose sight of our neighbours. In such a way, it becomes possible to reach a cultural destination produced by our pandemic, which, with a little effort, intensifies a discourse of multi diversity.

At the moment, Vilnius’ festival and Zagreb’s Musical Biennale are publicized on such a platform and, in a certain sense, it feels like one can attend the festival. Recounting the story of all festivals, from their foundations to their present status, the internet navigator can savour its taste through the screen. Next to such descriptions are practical information for a future in which one will be able to attend, not dismissing dreams but instead listing them, recounting them, re-imagining a present that has been awaited with impatience.
