Jazz sulla Senna: fino al 22 ottobre, con le donne in primo piano

L’occasione è ghiotta: nel mese di ottobre la Senna si ammanta di note jazz per il festival Jazz sur Seine 2022 che durerà fino al 22 ottobre.
Giunto alla sua undicesima edizione, Jazz sur Seine coinvolge 25 club parigini e tutta l’Ile-de-France per offrire al pubblico più di 180 concerti.

Tantissimi gli artisti in gioco: André Ceccarelli, Ludivine Issambourg, Takuya Kuroda, Mario Canonge, The Excitements, Cyrille Aimée, Mark Guiliana, Cécile Mclorin Salvant, Peter Bernstein, Ablaye Cissoko, sono solo alcuni nomi dei musicisti che si cimenteranno in nuove composizioni o proporranno cover di vecchi brani come la cantante francese Cyrille Aimée che presenterà una cover, in modalità jazz, di una canzone degli anni ’40.

Per due settimane, quindi, talenti affermati o emergenti si susseguiranno sui palchi più in vista o nei locali meno conosciuti, sia a Parigi che in periferia. Vincent Bessières, il presidente del Paris Jazz club, l’associazione che organizza l’evento, ha dichiarato ai microfoni di Le Journal en français facile:

“Uno dei punti di forza del festival Jazz sur Seine è la diversità delle sue proposte. Vale a dire che troveremo piccoli luoghi associativi di poche decine di spettatori ma anche sale molto grandi che possono ospitarne diverse centinaia. E questo ci permette di avere band con un’estetica molto diversa e con livelli di sviluppo molto diversi. La forza di questo festival è che offre spazio per tutti”.

Interessante osservare che tra gli artisti c’è un’altissima presenza femminile. Ed è proprio delle donne che vi voglio parlare in particolare.

Tra le artiste più interessanti del festival jazz sulla Senna sicuramente Natalia M. King la cantautrice nata a Brooklyn, che fiorisce con un talento incredibile già a otto anni, e che si esibirà sabato 15 ottobre al Jazz Club Etoile del diciassettesimo arrondissement.

L’ascolto del suo ultimo album, A woman mind of my own evoca subito le più grandi voci del genere: Etta James nell’espressione più profonda del dolore, ma anche Robert Johnson in quella sua ricerca del blues più puro.

Ma Natalia M. King non si ferma alla rigida ripetizione dei classici, è unica nel suo stile, non lasciandosi imprigionare in alcun genere musicale, e percorrendo la strada del blues con assoluta originalità. Tra i suoi lavori un brano che può essere definito uno splendido inno gay, AKA Chosen, una sorta di gospel LGBT.

Il 20 ottobre è la volta delle Fleurs Noirs, un ensemble femminile che interpreta il tango in una versione incredibilmente contemporanea. Originali creazioni musicali in cui il compositore e pianista argentino Andrea Marsili esplora ed offre nuovi timbri, lasciando alle dieci interpreti dell’ensemble nuove possibilità di espressione e improvvisazione, lasciandole attraversare la musica sperimentale, il post-minimalismo e il jazz.

Infine un occhio di riguardo per Körinn, artista neo-soul che scrive, compone ed esegue i suoi titoli fin da giovanissima. Körinn chiude il festival sabato 22 ottobre presentando, circondata da ottimi musicisti, il suo progetto Traversée rêvée al Baiser Salé. Tra jazz e world music, l’artista con la sua voce accattivante, collega le atmosfere musicali caraibiche all’universale.

Parallelamente al festival vengono organizzate azioni culturali come laboratori per bambini, masterclass per studenti di conservatorio e sessioni di musicoterapia per persone in situazioni di isolamento e fragilità sociale e psicologica.

E allora fateci un pensiero. La Senna vale sempre la pena, soprattutto se risuona di jazz.

Jazz Sur Seine 2022 involves 25 Parisian clubs and the whole of the Ile de France to offer over 180 concerts on the Seine. An unmissable event.

The occasion is tempting: in October the Seine is covered with jazz notes for the Jazz Sur Seine 2022, a festival that will last until 22 October.
Now in its eleventh edition, Jazz Sur Seine involves 25 Parisian clubs and the whole of Ile-de-France to offer the public more than 180 concerts.

Many artists involved: André Ceccarelli, Ludivine Issambourg, Takuya Kuroda, Mario Canonge, The Excitements, Cyrille Aimée, Mark Guiliana, Cécile Mclorin Salvant, Peter Bernstein, Ablaye Cissoko, are just some of the names of the musicians who will try their hand at new compositions or they will offer covers of old songs such as the French singer Cyrille Aimée who will present a cover, in jazz mode, of a song from the 40s.

For two weeks, therefore, established or emerging talents will follow one another on the most prominent stages or in lesser-known places, both in Paris and in the suburbs. “One of the strengths of the Jazz Sur Seine festival is the diversity of its proposals. That is to say that we will find small associative places of a few tens of spectators but also very large rooms that can accommodate several hundred. Among the most interesting artists of the jazz festival on the Seine is certainly Natalia M. King the singer-songwriter born in Brooklyn, who flourishes with an incredible talent already at the age of eight, and who will perform on Saturday 15 October at the Jazz Club Etoile in the seventeenth arrondissement.

Listening to her latest album, A woman mind of my own immediately evokes the greatest voices of the genre: Etta James in the deepest expression of pain, but also Robert Johnson in his search for the purest blues.

But Natalia M. King does not stop at the rigid repetition of the classics, she is unique in her style, not letting herself be imprisoned in any musical genre, and following the path of the blues with absolute originality. Among her works, is a song that can be defined as a splendid gay anthem, AKA Chosen, a sort of LGBT gospel.

On October 20 it is the turn of the Fleurs Noirs, a female ensemble that interprets the tango in an incredibly contemporary version. Original musical creations in which the Argentine composer and pianist Andrea Marsili explores and offers new timbres, leaving the ten performers of the ensemble with new possibilities for expression and improvisation, letting them cross experimental music, post-minimalism, and jazz.

Finally, an eye for Körinn, a neo-soul artist who writes, composes, and performs her titles from a very young age. Körinn closes the festival on Saturday 22 October presenting, surrounded by excellent musicians, her project Traversée rêvée at the Baiser Salé. Between jazz and world music, the artist with her captivating voice connects Caribbean musical atmospheres to the universal.

Parallel to the festival, several cultural actions are organized such as workshops for children, master classes for conservatory students, and music therapy sessions for people in situations of isolation and social and psychological fragility.

So think about it. The Seine is always worth it, especially if it resonates with jazz.
